Dreamhostreview.org is dreamhost review and dreamhost coupon site, hosted with dreamhost hosting since months ago and using their one and only shared hosting plan. I signup with dreamhost hosting, with the purpose to review dreamhost hosting and find out the real fact about this hosting provider.
Over this 11 months of dreamhost review, i did learnt a great deal about dreamhost hosting. Fact is that, this dreamhost review site affiliate account had been TERMINATED! Same thing happend to other affiliate users too. Just now sure what had caused this account termination thing to happened. I hope for a response from dreamhost affiliate program.
For dreamhost hosting, i notice that dreamhost addon domain is not a free process. I had seen the fee notice, and this means adding domain name will incur extra charges. Before this i having two websites, one primary and another is addon domain. Later i removed the addon domain and move the site to my other hosting account that offering free addon domain.

A word advice: Keep Away From Dreamhost! The only way to describe Dreamhost’s tech support team is that they are incompetent.
Dreamhost is the worst hosting company I have ever dealt with. I’m responsible for number of websites and by mistake I choose Dreamhost for the newest client (askdivine.com)!
They have disabled my website which is only two weeks old, and it is offline for well over 24hrs because of a security threat!
Apparently a phishing page was uploaded to the account. After removing the threat they also have disabled the website, which was absolutely unnecessary!
Their excuse was that the old versions of WordPress, PHPBB, etc. are the common causes for this sort of thing – the irony is that I have never used any of them!
Anyway, I went through the files and told them everything is OK and 10 hrs later came up with a new excuse that our web software itself is the threat – and we need to update Joomla. According to them Joomla 1.5.11 has potential vulnerabilities.
Cut the story short, I have upgraded to Joomla! 1.5.12. and the website is still down! I have submitted a new ticket support over 7 hrs ago and no response yet!

DreamHost would have been the best of cheap webhosting if their servers do not crash and go down so frequently. It’s absolutely a nightmare. Their control panel is great, support not bad too, but what do these matter if the server is down for 1/5 of the time?! We need uptime! That’s essentially what makes a great web host! But on the contrary, DreamHost is way beyond a bad host in uptime.
Absolutely NOT recommended, even with a small budget you can find better uptime services elsewhere.

DH is getting more budget now.. and might be the cause for this.

i was using dreamhost.com since 2 years but now they are just messed up, i did host my one friend’s movie site and he was just hosting images on the site and rest of all links were off site, they got a copyright complain and they banned my account without any warning, this is totally messed up
There are many large hosting companies but they never do like this, first they warn and then they take action even they just remove that copyright content or max they block your site but these dogs just banned the whole account without any warning
be careful guys, they are very dangerous and they can harm you anytime so i’d advise to avoid using http://www.dreamhost.com

So if you all don’t recommend Dreamhost, who do you recommend, especially for a non-profit organization?

dreamhost is a ‘profiting’ organization. With the staffs as their own bosses, the hosting company is their own business.

I’ve used Dreamhost for several years now, and haven’t had any trouble in a long time.
Early on, there were some server outages, but IIRC didn’t last more than a day. Also, some ISP’s were blocking emails originating from DH due to spammers, but that has since been resolved I guess, none of our emails are getting kicked back.
DH has been a very affordable, good service for us. I run about 5 sites on there now under one account.
